Girard-Perregaux is one of the watch brands that have a magnificent history of inventing break through ideas of watch making. The company had more than eighty patents for ideas and some of them changed the course of history of watch.
Although the origin of the Girard-Perregaux dated back to 1791, the original production with this name was started in 1856. The founder of the company was Constant Girard who was an excellent watch maker of that time. In 1880, he introduced the idea of commercial wrist watches and according to his concept, the company produced about two thousands of wrist watches by the order of Emperor Guillaume I of Germany. The Emperor ordered the watches for his naval officers. In 1965, the brand introduced a new concept of designing a high frequency mechanical movement. This was the first time when such idea came to the watch industry. The principal of this mechanical movement was creating a balance beat of 36,000 vibrations per hour.
